Someone Punch Me In The Face

I seriously hate cars. I just want to hitch hike across the country now. My veggie mobile broke down today on the side of the street because I ran out of gas, or vegetable oil. Then I had to call my brother to get me some diesel. First he brought over a half gallon thing of fuel. It wasn’t enough. Then he drove back home and picked up a 5 gallon thing of fuel. That wasn’t enough. Then I had to call AAA again to get it towed to a shop. Turns out, if you run out of diesel, your car is screwed. I guess it was a good thing we didn’t take the Benz.

What is wrong with me? I need to wake up and smell the coffee or something. My body is here, but my brain is not. I can’t wait to get out of California.

We leave on Monday. Look out for us.

Keep On Running- What We Can Learn From Ben Comen

The window of opportunity doesn’t come around too many times in my life. Ever since college, I began to teach myself to find those window of opportunities, then to jump through those windows. Often times, I don’t know where the windows lead, or how far the drop is to the ground. But I know, I can never stay in a room for too long. I don’t think it’s about whether or not I have problems with commitment. I think it’s about being able to run free, being creative, and being able to explore. I came across a video about Ben Comen, a disabled runner. After watching the video, I soon realized, my challenges are minimal compared  to his. In the end, it’s not about completing a race by yourself. I believe it’s about completing a race with all your supporters next to you.

Bringing it back to our vision. It’s not about what individuals are doing, it’s what individuals are doing to help their communities. With that said. Here’s Ben Comen.

The Recess Officially Begins

toyota sienna

Yesterday was a turning point for our journey and it hasn’t even been a week. After days of what seem liked the “end times.” I feel the worst is over. The wind and storm has settled and peace has been restored.

We bought a car. It’s a 2000 Toyota Sienna.

We’ll be leaving on February 1st. I think…

T.R.E Expose: Mike Kershnar, Artist

MikeKershnar

When we got stranded in Irvine, we really thought we were just going to sit here and rot. However, we tapped into our network and realized that there is a lot that is going on in Irvine. I’m not talking about the nightlife, or the deep rooted culture. I’m talking about the inspirational people living in a community, where inspiration doesn’t highlight itself on the perfectly paved streets.

Each week at T.R.E ( The Recess Ends ), we’ll be highlighting our favorite interviews or experiences. We’re stuck in Irvine, so we thought we bring you the best of Irvine.

Here’s a statement about Mike Kershnar:

My name is Mike Kershnar and I believe life is to be lived. I believe we all have a gift to share with the world. That gift is our part in bringing more light into this world that often seems so engulfed in darkness. I try to live my life embodying my core values. These core values are based on purpose, passion, joy, gratitude, and a real relationship with the natural world, and its Creator. My artwork humbly seeks to be a signpost pointing the way towards the earth, to purpose, to vision, to healing, and to a more fully awakened state of being. My influences are indigenous art styles from around the world especially Northern Formline, Aboriginal dreamtime art, and the Huichol aesthetic. It is one of my goals to do an exhaustive series on North American wildlife to draw attention to the beautiful creatures we co-inhabit this land with. I thank you for taking the time to look at a physical representation of my beliefs, based on my life’s experience thus far. Many blessings on your path.

Jeff Is Officially A Baller

Man. When we crashed the car, I truly thought that out trip was over. How are we supposed to go on a road trip without a car? I just a bad thing that happened way to early in our trip.

That feeling did not last very long; I thought about all the support everyone has given us.  They are expecting and pushing for us to finish this project and end up an amazing film. We have to do it. I really believe things happen for a reason, and this was not going to be the end.

My best friend since 7th grade called me yesterday while I was passed out napping – I don’t even remember him calling me actually. He called back today and asked me about what we were going to do about the car, told me we still have to go on the trip, and offered to donate money. We need a car and money will definitely help us, but in the end it’s just something material. With that being said, our society depends dollars and bills, and sometimes it is the best thing anyone can give. In this situation, Jeff – you received baller status award. Thanks.
