How To Use Social Media To Launch A Movement #1
Like many of you, we use social media tools everyday. There are so many tools out there is usually difficult to know which ones to use and how to use them effectively. On this trip, we are going to use these tools to help us spread the vision and the movement. Got a movement you want to start? Follow these tips to help you get started.
- Start a blog. There are several ones out there. There is BlogSpot, TypePad, and Wordpress. Here at The Recess Ends, we are using Wordpress. It’s free, they have great templates, and awesome widgets. Everything is built in quite nicely.
- Start using Twitter. What is Twitter? Twitter is microblogging. It’s very similar to updating your Facebook status. You can write about what you’re doing, what you’re reading, what you’re watching. Build relationships and connect with people that you normally wouldn’t connect with. Want to get started? Follow us on Twitter.
- Use your mobile phone. These days, your Blackberry, your iPhone to connect with the world. Keep up on your Twitter updates and your Facebook updates
- Use video to show the world what you’re up to. There’s obviously YouTube. They just enabled HD as well as enabling widescreen. There is also Vimeo. For this trip we will be using Vimeo. The design is more innovative and it’s a better way to connect with other film makers. Follow “The Recess Ends” on Vimeo. Here’s Brian on Vimeo and Austin on Vimeo.
- Got Photos? Load them and share them. I use Picassa as well as flickr. Both of them rock. Don’t forget to tag your photos as well as inserting your url. It will help promote your site.
