Irvine brothers say New Orleans is recession-proof
Two Irvine brothers have toured condemned neighborhoods, window-shopped abandoned malls and hunted wild boars for food (seriously).
But nothing in the past three weeks has shown them the spirit of recession-battered America more than Mardis Gras, the annual celebration in New Orleans.
“The overall theme here is ‘life goes on,’” said Austin Chu, 26, speaking by phone as party-hearty voices mixed in the background. “People get along out here. There’s no animosity… there’s peaceful chaos.”
